Quincy Type Specimen Booklet

InDesign | Grid Layout | Photoshop | Typography Study

Quincy is the name of a 70’s inspired typeface from type designer, Connary Fagan. This project involved research, strategic layout, and a deep understanding of a collection of type. The goal of this project was to create a theme to showcase three internal spreads.

This booklet was meant to be shown off in a way that it would appeal to people in the editorial or fashion industry. It’s a playful font, but there’s also a certain kind of elegance to it as well. The creator of this typeface said he wanted to capture a mental image he had of golden, undulating warmth, like a stream running through a forest. How beautiful! I tried to pay homage to that statement by scaling the asterisk to resemble a flower, and adding an image of a leaf in the third spread. I had fun playing with different ways of showcasing the unique qualities in each character and glyph, while still complying with the structure of a multiple grid system layout.
